Tilkkutyöperinteen siirtymiseen Suomeen vaikutti olennaisesti suomalaissiirtolaisuus Amerikkaan 1800-luvulta lähtien. 9. luokan tekstiilityön ryhmä perehtyi siirtolaisuuteen ja tilkkutyöperinteeseen. Omana työnään jokainen teki oman tilkkutyön. American quilts in Finland (9th grade) In the beginning of the 1900´s many people left to America. Some of them came back later and the other wrote letters and sent gifts back home. This way the guilting tradition entered to Finland. This group studies Finnish emigration to America in 19th and 20th centuries. The craft part of their project handles the old American quilt models, which were sent from America and copied in Finland. All the groups use the networking method getting information and dealing and learning with each other. They rapport the results of the work on their own web pages. Working period is January – March 2004.
